We will again be implementing our one-way drop-off from 7:30 to 8:25 am on school days. Please enter Pine Street from the North (Old Hwy 50 or 2nd Street). Drive South to the front of the school where your child can be dropped off by the main entrance. As you leave Pine Street on the south end, you can go straight, or turn east or west to leave the school. High school students will enter from the North and turn into the parking lot. If they have younger students with them, they will all walk from the parking lot. If you must come into the school, please park on the west side of the street so you do not stop the flow of traffic on the east side.
Pick-up will also be slightly different this year. It will NOT be a one-way like drop-off, but we will have two crosswalks painted going east to west on Pine Street. Your student will be expected to walk across the crosswalk if you park on the west side of the street. From there, they will walk down the sidewalk on the west side of the street to your vehicle. There will be staff and student council members in the first few weeks of school to help students with this process.
We ask that you drop-off and pick-up as quickly as possible so we can keep cars moving and avoid congestion. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring the safety of our students!
Please contact the school (605-286-3291) if you have any questions.

Each year, Mrs. Knodel reads Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House series to the third graders. This summer she invited 3rd and 4th graders and their families to join her in DeSmet, SD to help bring the series to life. The group of 49 participants were able to tour original buildings in town where the Ingalls family lived. They visited the cemetery where most of the family and other people mentioned in Laura's books are buried. The group ranging in age from 5 months old to grandparents enjoyed many hands on activities at the Ingalls Homestead and were able to explore every type of home the Ingalls family lived in during their time of settling in the west. Along with the daytime activities, 9 families camped out at the Ingalls Homestead, some sleeping in covered wagons.
