We had a great first week back to school!
Ella and Maesa using sunlight and a basketball to replicate Eratosthenes famous experiment of calculating the circumference of the Earth, which he did in 240 BC! Physics is Fun!
A special thank you to Ashley and Landon for being our inaugural crossing guards!
We would like to welcome Mrs. Van Winkle, Mr. Haase, Mr. Hento, Mrs. Cihak, Mrs. Irwin, and Mrs. Brandt to the Avon School Family! Please reach out to them and make them feel at home.
Thanks to everyone for a very successful first day of school! The new drop off and pick up procedure worked very well. We would like to thank the members of the Family Friendly Walk-through committee for recommending this change.
Our Preschool Pirates had a great first day!!
Good morning and welcome back!! We are excited for the first day! Reminder that we are implementing one-way traffic for drop off this year from 7:30-8:30. Please enter Pine Street from the North (Old Hwy 50 or 2nd Street). Drive South to the front of the school where your child can be dropped off by the main entrance. As you leave Pine Street on the south end, you can go straight, or turn east or west to leave the school. High school students will enter from the North and turn into the parking lot. If they have younger students with them, they will all walk from the parking lot.
Pick-up will also be slightly different this year. It will NOT be a one-way like drop-off, but we will have two crosswalks painted going east to west on Pine Street. Your student will be expected to walk across the crosswalk if you park on the west side of the street. From there, they will walk down the sidewalk on the west side of the street to your vehicle. There will be staff and student council members the first few weeks of school to help students with this process.
We ask that you drop-off and pick-up as quickly as possible so we can keep cars moving and avoid congestion. Thank you for working with us as we try something new to ensure the safety of our students!
Please contact the school (605-286-3291) if you have any questions.
Let's have a great year!
Thanks to everyone who attended the Open House tonight! The countdown has begun, only 11 hours till we see everybody on the ship. Don't be late, you don't want to miss this trip. What a great day to be a Pirate!
