It's National Twin Day! We have a few in our building! Some are missing their partner today, so they get an air hug🙂

The Creative English students have been hard at work writing and illustrating their own Christmas children's books. This week, they had the opportunity to share them with some of the younger students here!

Congratulations to the Quiz Bowl Team. They advanced to the final eight teams and will compete in Mitchell on January 11th!

Post Prom Blanket delivery information:
Well, bad news has struck…or I guess the holiday delivery delay has struck!!! We will NOT have our blankets by tomorrow to have available at the basketball game…we are VERY patiently waiting for them to arrive yet!!! I do sincerely apologize for the delay!!! We are monitoring the tracking information very closely and they should arrive before the end of the week. Please be checking back to see the new delivery time and plans to sell/distribute when they arrive. If you haven’t yet and would like to put your name on the list, please let Bridgette Muller know!!! If we cannot have them at the game on Thursday, we are trying to make alternative plans to have them available to purchase and/or pickup…again, we apologize for the delay!!! Thank you for understanding!!!

Students in grades 8-12 showed off their book projects today in English. They had to read a book of their choice independently and create a holiday decoration that represented at least 2 literary elements (plot, setting, theme, characters, symbolism, etc.). Mrs. Hubbell enjoyed seeing what they created and hearing all about their books!

The Avon Choir Department were busy bees on Wednesday, December 11th, making the rounds spreading Christmas cheer through music all around town. At 9 am the 8th grade loaded a bus and made their way to three daycares in town. They started at Mellissa’s daycare, loving that some kids were plugging their ears, while others were jiving in their seats. Then they headed to Avon Pirate Prep, where all the kiddos sat so nicely and one cutie ended our song with an enthusiastic “YAY!!” Our last stop was to Cindy Sassaman’s daycare. Most of the kiddos were excited for us to be there, minus a baby that wasn’t sure about our performance. The 8th grade headed back to class, but April kept the bus warm because soon after, the Avon High School Choir members loaded the bus to head to the Manor. There, they sang their Christmas songs they performed at their concert, and even added two birthday songs for two community members. They performed so well, bringing tears to a few people’s eyes. These community outreach experiences are so good for our students, and by seeing the smiles on the audience’s faces it is all so very well worth it. Everyone have a blessed Christmas season and thank you for allowing us to perform for you on this cold December day!

Some of the students were set up in the library to watch Treyvan and Terran Talsma compete at World Finals Rodeo.
Good luck gentlemen!
