Great Tournament yesterday by the girls with a top 5 finish!! This is one of the toughest tournaments we go to all year with close to 40 teams competing from all over Nebraska and a few other teams from South Dakota. The girls placed 4th with even missing one of our studs! The January grind has begun!!!

Post Prom is selling Krispy Kreme Donuts!!! Orders due into Avon School Office on Monday, January 13 or to a committee member. Delivery will be on January 23, 2025 and will be available for pickup after school and during the double header basketball games that night vs. Andes Central/Dakota Christian.

Today's German Christmas activities started with eating currywurst and pomfrittes. Later, the third graders found oranges and Kinder chocolate in their P.E. shoes, just as St. Nicholas puts treats in shoes in Germany on December 6th. We rounded out our day by Learning to sing the first verse to O' Tannenbaum in German and went Christmas Caroling around town. Frohliche Weihnachten and Frohes Neues Jahr from the Avon 3rd grade class!

The 3rd graders experienced a German Christmas today. Mrs. Knodel lived there when she was their age, and wanted to share her experiences with them. They were given passports (to use as journals and record their experiences,) and worked their way through "security" before boarding Pirate airlines and flying over the Atlantic Ocean and landing in Germany. They worked on map skills, visited a Christmas Market where they had to solve word problems about shopping with Euros, made adventure wreaths, and wrote letters to Christkindl. Stay tuned for more adventures coming tomorrow!!
